Is getting outside calculus support better than struggling alone?

Some calculus concepts can take several attempts before they finally make sense. While working on integration problems, I came across pay someone to take my online calculus class and started thinking about the difference between avoiding coursework and getting useful guidance. I found that explanations and hints were more valuable when they helped me solve the next problem independently. Understanding the method gave me more confidence than simply seeing an answer. Do you prefer hints or full explanations when stuck?
